The PaintShop Pro X7 Course has been designed for graphic designers that are too young or inexperienced to use high-end graphic programs.  Because PaintShop Pro is not an industry standard, many students are not familiar with it as other more costly programs.

In order to show graphic arts students that it is entirely possible to get professional quality work completed with Corel's alternative to Photoshop, this course was created to accompany and assist students, artists, and casual users that there is a powerful alternative.

Blended Methods Utilizing Cooperative Learning and Technology

The decision was made to combine a three-phase approach to classroom instruction and learning.  The three-phase system utilizes delivery by video instruction (using screen capture presentations), cooperative learning with hands-on technology lessons using the PaintShop Pro software.

Ten Video Lessons

The course is broken down into ten video lessons of training and each session is approximately 40 minutes long.   Each segment is accompanied by a worksheet that the students have to fill out as they watched the video. (The student may pause the video as they fill out the worksheet.)

Lesson Worksheets

The worksheets will then be turned in for assessment and grading at the end of the lesson.  Once the lesson is complete, an assignment will be given to demonstrate and practice the skills that the students learned during the video lesson.

Short Projects

After every second session, students will complete a short project in which they may collaborate on to review the skills they learned on the previous two videos.

Mastery Projects

Two large projects are given at the end of the course so that the students can demonstrate mastery over the subject matter.  The projects are accompanied by videos that demonstrate what is expected of the students and how they may complete some of the steps of their projects.
